Evil Alien Conquerors!

Man, that has to be one of the best bad SF movies ever. Okay, not quite as bad as It Came From Outer Space, and not as good as Earth Girls Are Easy, but worth half-watching for a couple of hours. (I cannot compare it to Plan 9 from Outer Space because I have never had the good fortune to watch that show. So sad.)

And it brings whole new meaning to world domination through infomercials. I wonder why it never occurred to Ron's roommate that he never actually saw any of Ron's multitudinous one-night stands?

And as always, a concept to live by: never pick up another man's sword. You don't know where it's been.

Enthuse for Kenny!

How do you feel about your eyes?

Are you in the class of "never touch them," or perhaps in the "I'll try anything" group? I'm somewhat in the middle and my eyes are my most-valued sense. For the last month, I have been struggling with an eye problem. To me, that is one of the most frightening things possible in my life.

It started suddenly a month and a half ago. In the morning, I noticed nothing about my eyes. At the end of the day, I couldn't focus on a form I had to fill out, even with my reading glasses. It took me three times as long to make out the words. As I drove home, I noticed that the freeway signs looked funny.

Home and the Holidays

Last year, I spent Christmas in a hotel room. I had dinner at The Waffle House (which makes pretty awesome, filling, way too fat for you foods, especially waffles, of course). It didn't bother me at all; it bothered everyone else a lot.

So worry not this year: my mother is coming to spend the holiday with me. Mom and I have long planned that when Gram died, Mom and I would do something different for Christmas, because the same old thing would make us miss Gram even more. This year we are spending some time in San Antonio, at the Riverwalk Plaza, the place I stayed last year in early December, before I arrived in Houston. The city et al. were just beginning to put up the holiday lights when I left to continue my journey, so I look forward to seeing the end result this year.
